Disney and Marvel today unveiled new footage from the highly-anticipated sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which is slated for release on November 11. It’s the final film in Phase Four of the MCU. The tease came during a D23 panel touting upcoming projects from Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Studios.
The footage has Angela Bassett’s Ramonda in some sort of congressional hearing. The officials there want access to Wakanda’s Vibranium. She, of course, says no because it’s dangerous and because of the potential of the U.S. getting it.
Cut to a special ops team attempting to sneak into Wakanda’s Vibranium processing facility in order to steal the substance. Wakanda’s women warriors, however, are onto them and Okoye (Danai Gurira) and her crew mop the floor with the would-be thieves.

In Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. The Marvel Cinematic Universe gets another mutant in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as actor Tenoch Huerta confirms Namor is a mutant in the sequel. After over four years of waiting for another Black Panther movie, the MCU is only a few weeks away from releasing the highly-anticipated follow up. One of the most exciting aspects of the film for many is the inclusion of Namor the Sub-Mariner as the villain. The underwater ruler was long theorized to be the perfect villain for Black Panther 2, but it was not until the debut of the first trailer at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 that audiences got a look at the half-mutant/half-Atlantean.
MCU Phase 4 has been busy laying the foundation for the X-Men's introduction by including several mutants. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featured Patrick Stewart's Professor X thanks to the multiverse. Meanwhile, Ms. Marvel's finale included a huge twist that revealed Kamala Khan is a mutant, too. These teases put a lot of attention on Tenoch Huerta's role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as they could mean Namor's mutant connections from the comics could be included.
During an interview with Empire to promote the upcoming sequel, Tenoch Huerta confirmed to the outlet that despite some changes to the MCU's version of the villain, Namor is a mutant in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The outlet notes: "One detail that is carrying over from the comics? According to Huerta, his Namor is indeed a mutant." The distinction came as part of the confirmation that the MCU's Namor is inspired by the history of Mesoamerica, which includes changing Atlantis' name to Talocan.
Pinhead will be played by Jamie Clayton of Sense8 fame and Riley is played by Odessa A’zion.
Hellraiser will be released on October 7 2022 in the US. It's being released direct to streaming and won't see a theatrical run.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever cast Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke and Letitia Wright in the main roles. In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, the film's cast talked about honouring Chadwick Boseman and why it is important for them to get the film right. Danai Gurira called Boseman the cast's "brother" and mentioned how they wanted to honour the late actor and had the same in their mind while filming the movie. She said, "The most important thing, of course, was honouring our brother, our leader, and our king."
Courtesy of Empire, the image sees M'Baku standing in a rather imposing way while wearing his new attire, which consists of such elements as an animalistic face on the chest plate and braids on the skirt. Prior to this, the design for the suit of the movie's enigmatic new Black Panther had been revealed via Funko Pop!, which looks similar to the face paint pattern on Shuri.
Outside of his character getting a new look, Duke previously discussed how surviving the Blip in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War changed M'Baku. "I think M'Baku is forced to catch up with the times," Duke said. "His role has changed. He survived The Snap, he is now a part of the Tribal Council so he's more forward-facing and less insular. So he's been forced to really be a part of the collective transparency. I think that's a really cool thing for him and you get to see a whole new dynamic including him." Tying into this, Duke also teased in July that M'Baku would have a larger role in Wakanda Forever.
Additionally, Duke told fans to forego any expectations about Wakanda Forever, saying the film will stand on its own rather than try to recapture the magic of the first Black Panther movie. "This narrative has evolved, and it's changed, just like all the characters and the circumstances of Wakanda itself," he added. "For me in particular, I just had to let go of the expectation of this being anything like the first movie and allow this movie to be its own thing."

Marvel Studios looks to be changing quite a bit about Namor as the iconic hero makes his MCU debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. But one major detail isn't changing - Namor is still a mutant in the MCU.
Actor Tenoch Huerta confirmed that detail in an interview with Empire. This makes Namor one of the very first mutant characters to appear in an MCU project. That's fitting, as Namor is often described as "Marvel's first mutant" in the comics. Because his father is human and his mother Atlantean, Namor carries the mutant gene and possesses certain powers that set him apart from his fellow Atlanteans.
This reveal makes Namor the third major mutant character to appear in the MCU this year. Previously, Patrick Stewart reprised the role of Professor Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, while a major hero is apparently being reimagined as a mutant in the MCU.

Ryan Coogler’s newest installment into the MCU will show show the hyper-advanced African nation of Wakanda dealing with the aftermath of their king’s death and the power vacuum and political struggle that will occur. Additionally, Atlantis’ Namor (Marvel newcomer Tenoch Huerta) also has a bone to pick with Wakanda.
There are plenty of epic superhero flicks, but there’s only one MCU film that’s longer than Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Avengers: Endgame is a hefty three hours and two minutes. But Black Panther 2 won’t be the longest superhero film this year; THR noted that the Robert Pattinson-led The Batman was two hours and 56 minutes.
